In 2016, the Metropolitan Chorale began an outreach effort to retirement communities in the Boston area. Its four Artists in Residence have performed both popular and classical repertoire targeted to their audience. Programs included American, French and German art songs, including Brahms, Farmer, and Faure, songs from the American song book, such as “Black Bird,” “All the Things You Are” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and original compositions.

The Brookline Senior Center, Center Communities of Brookline and Evans Park at Newton Corner have all hosted the Metropolitan Chorale Artists in Residence. Outreach efforts continue in the 2017-2018 season with generous funding from the Hamilton Charitable Foundation.

For more information about these outreach efforts or to inquire about hosting the Artists in Residence, contact the Carol Sheingold at Carol@metropolitanchorale.org.

Feedback: “I received a call last night from a resident following the program, saying it was the best concert in his 10 ½ years here! He said the residents LOVED it. Then, when I got in today…I’ve had SO many people come to my office to tell me we “must” have the Artists in Residence again and how much they enjoyed the concert. It was truly appreciated and valued very much by the diverse community living here.”
